Design thinkers frame a problem. They view the context of the problem from multiple perspectives and make multiple assumptions that they consecutively. explore. Framing is described in detail in the green section of the LSD series.
A frame map is a useful tool for exploring the ideas within a frame. Download the handy frame card here (Dutch).
Aging
A growing group that demands design thinking solutions are the elderly. Again, sometimes too often people work towards a solution without exploring different frames.
An example: the compression stocking or compression stocking is torture to put on and take off. And so there are several inventions that help with this. From gloves to complete machines. But…. Raquel Pereira Silva, student of the Eindhoven design academy asks, why don’t we look for the solution in the stocking. From this frame she develops the NI-TI (Nickel-Titanium) compression stocking made of thermal shrink textile. The stocking is put on cold and is still loose, but shrinks due to the warmth of the leg. Pulling out is easy with a cold pack. You see: the best solution is usually the simplest *
