Kanban

Kanban is a contraction of the Japanese word Kan (card) and Ban (board). Kanban is a way of working. You can read all about it in the cyan part of the LSD series. On this page a (very) short introduction.

SCRUM VERSUS KANBAN

  • Where Scrum is an Agile framework, Kanban stems from Lean manufacturing and TPS (Toyota Production System)
  • Kanban is meant for  run , Scrum for  change .
  • Kanban works well for repetitive tasks in a stable setting, while Scrum is intended for incremental development in a complex, uncertain setting.
  • The scrum board with the post-it’s is actually a kanban board with usually three columns to do, doing, done.
