The brainstorming session aims to promote creativity. We have listed the best and most effective teaching methods.
BRAIN WRITING
Many people slam in a group. Therefore, provide sufficient individual timeboxes in which the participants write down ideas for themselves, which are then discussed in plenary. And they are allowed to close their eyes or walk around if that helps.
PASS FORWARD BRAINSTORM
This works well if you have defined several frames. Put each frame on a large sheet of paper and let it circulate in the group. Everyone adds his or her ideas and the harvest is discussed with the group.
PASS FORWARD BRAINSTORM > BLIND EDITION
Cut an A3 paper vertically. Divide the paper with 5 folds into 6 sections. Give all in a piece. Ask the first one to come up with his/her idea in text. The second round every one gets the paper from his neighbour, reads the text and draws this into a picture. He then folds the text away and based on only the drawing, the next round we translate it back into a text. And so on…
LATERAL THINKING
In so-called lateral thinking, you arrange existing information in a different way so that new information (and therefore directions for solutions) arise. The principle was made great by Edward de Bono and is useful in both divergence and convergence. The goal is to think more freely and to play with concepts that seem incorrect. This creates surprising new insights. The kick-off is often a ‘strange’ question such as ‘suppose we were to make a monkey the boss of our company’.

REVERSE BRAIN FLOW
Choose an unusual position. For example, by asking, “How can we cause the problem?” or “How can we achieve the opposite of what we are aiming for?” You can find an example here .
HERRINGBONE ANALYSIS
A method that is still widely used is the herringbone analysis. We are not a fan of it because it is inserted (too) linearly. If you still want to give it a chance, just Google for a work instruction.
LIBERATING STRUCTURES
The so-called liberating structures are especially ideal for working with larger groups. You can find nice working methods via the menu on the left. Or check out liberatingstructures.com .
Circle of influence
Download the free LSD Circle of Influencecanvas in Mural to determine which brainstormed wishes and actions are within and which are outside the sphere of influence.
